For over two decades, this organization has been dedicated to uplifting rural and resource-poor communities across Rajasthan, India, focusing on districts like Rajsamand, Dungarpur, Jaipur, Udaipur, and Bhilwara. With a mission to improve health and nutrition, the project works in areas where malnutrition and limited healthcare access pose serious challenges to community well-being.
The key objectives are clear and focused:
1. Improving the nutritional status of 80% of identified malnourished children in the Gogunda block of Udaipur District and Khamnor block of Rajsamand District.
2. Promoting healthier behaviours among 80% of adolescents to reduce future health risks.
3. Enhancing access to quality health and nutrition services for women, children, adolescents, and youth, while also promoting sexual and reproductive health awareness.
What sets this project apart is its life-cycle approach, addressing malnutrition and associated health issues across key life stages, aiming to end the cycle of malnutrition for future generations. By supporting adolescents, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and young children (ages 0-5), the project focuses on foundational health improvements that can transform health outcomes across entire communities. The demographic served includes 18.22% Scheduled Castes (SC) and 6.7% Scheduled Tribes (ST), with agriculture and animal husbandry as primary occupations. However, migration trends among tribal populations seeking unskilled work add pressures on women, impacting child health indicators adversely. In addition, high prevalence of myths, superstitions, lack of basic human rights, education, non-awareness of government schemes and extreme gender biases effect health and development adversely.
In response to these needs, the project supports the well-being of newborns, infants, children, adolescents, and women, aiming to disrupt the cycle of malnutrition that often perpetuates through generations. With a holistic approach to improving community health, this project represents a vital intervention in Rajasthan, bringing essential health and nutritional support to those most in need.
