In Rajasthan, women from marginalized communities face challenges unimaginable to most of us, including poverty, caste-based discrimination, and limited access to education. Social norms further restrict their opportunities for economic independence, learning, and personal growth. These barriers are being dismantled by a project dedicated to supporting children, young girls and women in Jodhpur, Setrawa, and Jaisalmer, who often lack even basic awareness or resources.
This initiative is at the forefront of addressing these challenges at a very grassroot level, empowering women through education and vocational training. The project’s core activities take place in Empowerment Centres, which offer both, primary education to young children from extremely vulnerable backgrounds and skill development to women to make them self-sustaining.
By focusing on traditional crafts and business skills, the initiative not only fosters financial independence but also builds self-confidence and dignity among the women. Through the formation of self-help groups, they enable women co-learners to save money, access loans, and even start small enterprises, paving the way for long-term self-reliance.
Additionally, the organisation provides shelter homes for girls from remote villages, most of whom come with the baggage of extremely traumatic pasts or abandoned due to lack of financial capability of their families to raise them. Giving them access to consistent education, nutrition and psychological support these homes create a safe environment for these girls to learn and become independent. This year, 1,140 new women and children have joined the program across its three locations, gaining essential tools to achieve a more independent and secure future.
Lives of these women and their self-worth can be changed with your help !
